At The Windowsill.tmp

"At The Windowsill" (24" - 36" inches) is a painting yet in preparation and am currently adding the finishing touches to it. Running along the idea of "my view of the world" this is a painting I am currently producing for my art course. This is the temporarily finished version and there is a quite a lot of places I need to build up on, especially on the right side of the canvas with more colour balance.

The phrase "At the windowsill" for me is representative of a place to rewind, relax and letting my thoughts run wild. The windowsill is a place I would sit by and simply daydream of a better "perfect world".

The left foreimage (based on a self-portrait) is supposed to be of a girl simply daydreaming of how the world should be. She is representing the current world not so lovely, but everyone wishes for a better world filled with affection. The right side is (view outside the window) is comprised of her imagination, people affectionate towards one another.

Several generations are portrayed on this painting including youths, a family consistive of two generations (parents and children) and an aged couple. The central image is of a mother and child holding hands, one of most basic display of affection.
